HWH air bag leveling

Leveling system will not stay in travel mode. Have HWH 2000 air leveling (bag) system. Country Coach 2004 Allure 36 foot. Any suggestions would help. Thank you. The leveling part works both manual and auto with no problems.

Have you tried calling HWH? Is your coach dropping air out and won't stay at ride height or is just the light not coming on? Either way HWH should be able to point you in the right direction.

That's the same problem I was having - but in my case it turned out that I had some bad coils on the rear hwh manifold. http://www.irv2.com/forums/f115/is-t...ml#post4180196

While troubleshooting I learned that there is an air pressure switch that will kick system aout of Travel mode if air pressure drops below 85 psi. That switch may be bad (or wiring to switch).

You can see that switch at the bottom of the center manifold in the attached drawing.

When it comes out of travel mode have you looked to see if one of the jacks has leaked down? I know the retraction springs can get weak and did replacement sometimes.

when the travel light comes on, it indicates the hwh air leveling system has turned off. not the whole system, just the leveling part. that means the control of the air bags are relinquished to the chassis air ride height valves.
air leveling is very different that hydraulic leveling, as there are manifolds that control the flow of air, all the time, even when driving.

on air ride systems with air leveling instead of jacks, when the system is stored, the travel solenoids are opened, and stay on all the time. thats when the green travel light comes on. its not an indication that you can travel, it just says that the travel valves are open.

i hope this is clear.

if you have travel light coming on, the travel solenoids will be open allowing air to the ride height valves. the raise and dump valves are closed.
closed is the normal position for all solenoid valves.

if you are experiencing a leak while in the travel mode, i would first look at the ride height valves. thats where the air is supposed to be going. if the travel valves were not opening, the bags would not inflate when stored is pushed.
i will be happy to help. pfmaddox@att.net text 1-602-549-3638

I had a similar problem with my 36' '02 Intrigue. It turned out to be the ride hight valves. I was able to set the ride height manualy then pulled the fuse so I could drive in to get it worked on. It's not a fix but you won't be bottoming out on every little pepple on the road. Also if you're going to drive anywhere in that condition do it a slower speeds than you usually drive. One thing you want to make sure you have done is check when the last time your air dryer was changed out. If it's greater than 3 yrs or you don't know when change it. If it goes out it will fill the air system with desiccant and you may start having problems with your air valves.
Good Luck

Thanks

Thanks to all. It was very nice of everyone to respond. As soon as it stops raining and the ground gets a little dryer I will check things out. I think I will check the ride height valves first. I had a problem with one of the rods a couple of years ago. Again, thanks to all. I will post when I find the problem.

Solution

It was the threaded rod on the ride height valve. Got new rod and installed. Problem solved. Again, thanks to all.
