HWH AP1122 jacks

Ok my 1996 Winnebago Luxor ‘s two rear jacks are not retracting on their own, I need to pry them up. One fellow said just replace the springs another said upgrade the whole system and a third suggested finding used ones.
HWH says the parts are “obsolete “ so wtf…..

So my question- what should I do, I live full time in her, I travel a fair bit and I am 67 and prying isn’t any fun.

Enjoy the ride we all want more time in the end.

Well I'm not sure exactly what jacks you have but here's info on cleaning the jacks ( that helped me avoid the prying up issue ) and replacement springs that I haven't go around to yet .

If these pdfs don't help ; or apply to your jacks ; please post a picture ; or post the HWH system # ; so members will know exactly what you're working on.

OK ; I found your jack specs ; on page 620 of a 1457 page pdf of HWH parts from 2009 .
Jacks aren't listed in numerical order .

AP 1122
Straight acting jack w/ 7 degree pivot .
F/A springs .
12,000 # capacity
2.375" rod diameter.
13 " stroke
OEM spring P/N ; R 91642 ; 14.5" length

Unless the rear of your coach weighs 24,000# these jacks are over kill .
If cleaning doesn't help the issue and new springs aren't available , perhaps a lighter jack could be fitted in their place.

As Skip seid, the first thing is to identify your leveling system. That AP number only identifies the jack.
This HWH quick identification pdf is much easier to use than the one in the HWH website.

The cleaning of the jack shafts , cleared up my slow/no retract/ need to pry issue , for the past 12 years . Any time the jacks are down for over a week , I spray and wipe the shafts .
I know that's not much different that the, pry up as far as crawling around under the coach , but at 73 ( waiting for hip surgery ) I can still get it done .

HWH 610 repair manual
The plug on the back of the touch panel, as shown in that quick ID, is different than other models. That, and the size, shape of the control box are specific to the system. My control box has 5 fuses on the end, which is also specific.

At the end of the day, these are just hydraulic jacks. I'd go to a shop that works on hydraulic cylinders and ask if they can rebuild them.

AZPete, is this spring chart still valid? Apparently not all return springs are the same.

I just bought 2 sets of springs from HWH. They shipped them out from Moscow, IA and I had them the next day here in Minnesota. I would give them a call.
Here is a link to a very good video on how to replace the springs. I made the tool and it took me 10 minutes to replace the springs on each jack. That included getting my big butt down there to work on them.

Do you want to sell the tool? Or rent it?
