HWH Springs Replacement

Replacing HWH springs on a 40' diesel pusher. The angle iron and all thread system worked ok for the front springs, but not for the rear. The springs on the rear of a diesel pusher are too strong for the angle iron, attempting this, the angle iron left the work bench and flew across the garage and bounced off a few items before landing. Tried the other method and used a come a long across the work bench and inserted wood shims in the springs, this does work, a tough job, but can be done.
Extended the jacks and inserted wood shims in the original springs, to aid in removing them.
2003 Tiffin Allegro Bus original springs, still working but very slow to return and occasionally one rear took a very long time to return.

I watched HWH work on the rear jacks on my rig. They replaced the springs by using a 1x2 tube steel about 3 ft long, with a hook bolt in the center. They were able to use the bar as a lever to pull the spring down to attach to the foot plate.

I tried the sticks in the coils thing. Whoever came up with that idea had a lot more patience than I do.
I used my 30" long pinch bar. Put the end of the spring on the bar, insert the tapered end of the bar into the retainer loop on the pad and pry the spring down until the end comes to the loop. Slide the spring to the end of the bar, hook the end of the spring into the loop and you're done. Next.
