Hydraulic fluid

I am needing to fill the reservoir for my levelers. I’m thinking it’s just regular ATF. What do you guys use?

Or HLP 46, standard long-life hydraulic fluid

HWH fluid is colorless so it won't make pink leaks; otherwise HWH says to use ATF. _Not_ hydraulic fluid or oil.

Not everybody has HWH levelers.

ATF is one kind of hydraulic oil, the difference is negligable.

We have Power Gear levelers on our rig and used ATF when we topped off our reservoir a few years ago.

It seems HLP 46 is "colorless Dexron", or am I wrong there ?

Most brands of RV hydraulic jacks recommend Dexron III ATF. It's a pretty safe bet for any system that needs a hydraulic fluid (oil)

As you've read, the correct answer depends on which hydraulic jacks you have.

For example, while Lippert uses ATF they stress you must not use Fird Type F ATF or you will damage the seals.

The details matter.

Type F is the Ford version of ATF. Dexron is GM spec ATF and safe for all the brands of RV hydraulic jacks I've ever encountered.

GM no longer certifies products to the Dexron III spec, but all the major oil companies make a "Dexron III" compatible ATF.

Just as a note, I replaced my HWH jack pump last month and it just so happens that Camping World had the best price on the clear HWH jack oil. That surprised me. It was also free shipping over $100.00.
