Unhappy Hydro Max failed

I have a 2000 Monaco Knight that has a Hydro Max pump problem. In June we had a hydrolic hose rupture, it was the power steering / brakes one. As luck would have it, we were not moving at the time. But when I applied the brakes, nothing happened. The Hydro Max back up system was not there. It appears that the pump is either shorted out or is frozen, as it draws very high current, close to 100 amps. Anyone had a similar problem? The pump does not get any excersize, so not sure why it would fail. Would have been a real exciting time if on the freeway when it went.

Welcome Dwayne to irv2.
Had a hose get a leak while driving on Maine Turnpike at 60 mpg had a rest area ahead and coast over a 1/2 mile to stop behind the restrooms without the brakes.
Happened twice because techs kept routing hose over frame angle iron to wear through.
My pump was in the belt system for gas coach for Hydro pump.
I would check your hose's and see where they are routed you may have lost the fluid for pump and needs to be refilled after you find the leak.

Hydrolic fluid is contaminated

I had the Hydro Max pump rremoved, it was stuck, however it had a lot of black gunk in the gear assy. I think it was residue from the hose that ruptured, or from the new hose that was installed. After cleaning the gear assy, the motor appears to be OK. Now, the question.. How does one flush out any of the remaining residue that is left in the system? Both the brakes and steering work from this hydrolic supply. Any one have a good idea?
