I-5 North Thu Marysville Washington

We have to travel north from Centralia to the Canadian Border on Sunday April-16th. Will be traveling with a 44' Class A pulling a Jeep Liberty

From the sounds of it traffic is backed up pretty good at this point and the 2 lanes that are open are really narrow.

Was wondering if taking Hwy 2 over to Hwy 9 at Evert and back to the I-5 once past Marysville on SR 531 is a better alternative. Any advice is appreciated.

I just came south on that route yesterday, no problem. There are two lanes but traffic was moving in both directions. Problem is around Mt Vernon because ot the tulip lookey loos. I think this weekend is the last one for the tulips

I gather from the radio reports today that the weekend was going to be the worst. According to the radio this AM around 10:00-11:00 the I-5 going north was backed up for 2-1/2 miles

Besides the Tulips, there is a major road repair happening between Everett and Marysville. I understand that lanes are shifted and narrowed so they can replace expansion joints. You could safety take the detour you suggest, the roads are good, but I doubt it will save you a huge amount of time.

We take 529 (old highway 99) occasionally to bypass that stretch of I5 but everyone else is probably taking it as well. I think the bridges have adequate clearance because large trucks go that way but I haven't paid any attention lately and have not gone that way with our MH.
