As an aside to these tolls in the NE United States I will tell you my experience on the George Washington Bridge (GWB- New York area), going from South to North in 2004.
I had an older 33', '86 HR, with a tag axle, Motor Home. I was pulling a Saturn (toad). The lady charged me for 5 axles- IT COST $45!! . Never again will I go that way.

It seems to me like paying a bridge toll is a necessity to get into or out of NY. As I posted earlier, we are heading to Croton on Hudson, NY, then to Selden, Long Island, NY. After staying in Selden for about a week will be heading out to Pigeon Forge, VA. I know I am going to pay to get off the island.I have used the trip planner from FMLA and Good Sam and AAA. Found that the AAA planner is more flexible in altering routes. I think I have a pretty good one now thanks to all of your input. Thanks againRick

This summer we will be traveling from WA DC area (Cherry Hill RV Park) to Essex Junction via Troy, NY, where my son is an RPI student.
Would like to avoid the big metro areas and the stiff tolls for a 3 axle moho plus toad.
Could someone familiar with the area please let me know if this route makes sense:
I 95 N
I 695 (west of Balt.)
I 83
I 81
I 88
I 90 to Albany/Troy
Using Streets and Trips this route looks good, but don't know in reality. It is 70 miles longer than the direct route up I 95 but no tolls and away from the heavier traffic corridor.
Thanks

Hello-
Reference my recent post on the EZ-Pass system of New Jersey.
Some of my traveling neighbors told me last night that the New York EZ-Pass system, they have, has no monthly service fee. If true, that would save $12/yr. But they also said that NJ gave you a slight discount on some tolls.
Anyone know for sure?
