I was going to offer some suggestions but after reading the above, forget it.

Hey Quincy,

Why do you not want to provide information? Is it because Iím too rich or too cheap to buy duct tape?

I would venture to say your microwave is toast. You really don't want to use it if the door doesn't seal properly. Even if you tweak it back, it won't be right. You said it was new....did you buy it with a credit card that offers protection....some forget about this.

Hi Don,

Unfortunately no protection plan. My hope is that I can take the door off. If I can do that I should be able to straighten the baseplate.

My DW made a good point in saying ďfeel lucky it wasnít the refrigeratorĒ! I have something on the refrigerator to keep it from opening but didnít think about the microwave.

I was frankly surprised the microwave was the only thing that opened because it was quite a ride there for a moment there!

A microwave with an ill fitting door is dangerous. They can leak microwaves out. Either completely scrap the unit or have it professionally repaired by someone who has the proper test equipment to detect leaks. (Yes, there is such a device and a good repair shop should have one).

A sprung microwave oven door will leak microwaves, not good for ones health, especially if someone has a pacemaker. if you DIY, please have a professional test it for leakage prior to use.
