Went under the MH and double checked. Yep, no belt. So that my friends, is what the problem was. The belt had broken and the alternator stopped working. He checked and said, "there's another belt that should be changed as it looks bad." So now I will start shopping for two belts. One is the serpentine, what is the other? And if it had no serpentine, how did I have power steering? And doesn't it also work the water pump? And the a/c, right? (but I didn't turn the a/c on)

My '95 Holiday Rambler w/460 had 2 belts. Both were flat, serpentine style and both went around crankshaft and water pump. Inside (closest to engine) drove A/C compressor and hydraulic pump. Outer one went to alternator.

Ok Densher, then the belt operating the a/c, the water pump, the power steering is NOT the same belt that operated the alternator. Great! That's why I still had power steering and the other accessories. I thought the alternator belt operated ALL the accessories. The other belt will be changed also as it looks cracked according to the mechanic who made a visual check. Thank you!

ps, any idea of numbers for the belts?

Thanks for the tip. Will do.
