I need a driveway test Class A
My wife and I are window shopping Class A’s but have a dilemma. Our driveway has a entrance with a U turn into a gate and are not sure if a 30-38 foot Class A will make the turn even with a possible 2 point turn. We have a crew cab long bed pulling a 34 ft trailer and can make the turn, but not the same. We live near Hooks Airport in north Houston,TX and could use a test motorhome. The rental places will rent only for 3 day minimum. Is there anyone in north Houston (Spring/Tomball) with such a Class A willing to do an experiment for us? I am not sure how to be reached? PM, email? Also open to suggestions.
Thanks,
Hank

I will be staying at Rayford Crossing RV Resort in Spring October 31st through November 3rd. If you are interested in my giving it a try, PM me. However, my Class A is 43', so don't know if that would help.

If there's a good aerial or satellite photo, post one (but not the link) with some dimensions and obstacles indicated.

If you are looking at buying a different motorhome why not go shopping and find one you are interested in and take a test drive to the house and see if it will fit. Even if the salesperson is with you explain it would be a condition of sale that it fits in your driveway.
As someone suggested possibly post a screen shot for google maps.
If have room to maneuver and time to do it you should be able to make the turn. Our coach is ~40' long, our old house we had a to sharp turn into our driveway and were able to make the turn. These things turn better then you think.

Beach Aire: Thank you. I believe a 43 would be too long. My sister had a 45 and wouldn’t try it. At the time there was another access no longer available.
The current google maps satellite image is old and the trees are in full foliage covering the view of the entrance. I am trying to look on google earth and also will measure and draw a picture if possible.
We will most likely buy used from a private seller, or dealer not in Houston.
Thank you for the replies. Hank

30-38' Class A's will have more than 1 WB length=different turning radiuses. Where 1 RV will work, another may not.
Might have to consider the longest OAL with a long WB for a test, and use that info as a baseline

And, a "shorter" tag axle coach-- ya, like 40' or so may have a shorter turning radius than a 38' 2 axle coach.
Cut angles DO vary also. Some of the larger buses with wider cut angles and lift-able tag axle will actually turn inside a 37' or so gas coach.
Said another way, length is only ONE of the criteria for turning radius.

Here is a (bad) drawing of my entrance. Please tell me if there is another way to show this. I have pictures if needed also. Hank

For what this is worth, judging by the pictures, I think you can make it. Your gonna have to use all the road and square up the turn, but you appear to have more room than I have and I can get my 40' coach in and out of my driveway.. Might have to trim back a couple of the tree limbs, but it doesn't look to bad to me.
I would come in on the main road as far left as I could get and turn in last minute. hug the left edge of drive all the way around, having someone watch the right rear tire, making sure it stays on asphalt. (go slow and easy) toughest point is the very last pinch before drive straightens out, right rear may want to drop off into grass/dirt. If you make it past that, you are free and clear. Do opposite coming out, hug right, stay on edge of payment all the way out into road. You appear to have adequate clearance for any swing or over hang. Remember you are sitting on the front axle, front can swing out further than tires and still be on pavement.

Dfuelman thanks. Thats how I get my truck/trailer in and out now. I may have to move the keypad on post to allow front end swing in and tail swing going out. There is grass on both sides of the curve drive with plenty of open air to fence. It will be close on the outside of the culvert in and out. By the way, at this time I can only come in from the left (U turn side) as the road is dead end without turnaround. Beach Aire I may take you up on your offer if nothing else comes up before. Hank
Edit: I may have to do a 2 point turn once I make the 90* turn

If you draw up a large-enough scale drawing, you could cut out a rectangle to approximate the RV to scale, place the wheels at the right place to represent points of pivot/motion, roughly determine if it's worth following up.
