Ice maker help

We have a Dometic NDA1402 refrigerator in our coach. We have had issues with the ice maker being exceptionally slow and have been following the diagnostic procedures to find the root cause. The issue now, (please try to stifle your laugh) is that the ice tray/dispenser will not fit back into the freezer. One problem is that when Monaco designed the space for the refrigerator to fit, the door for the freezer will not open fully, making alignment of the ice dispenser back into it's place difficult. There is a rod that extends from the rear of the dispenser into a curved slot at the rear of the freezer. For some reason, the rod will no longer insert fully into the slot. Looking into the slot, there does not appear to be an obstruction. I know that the rod is moved via a mechanism that travels up and down within the slot and it may be that the mechanism has moved. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

You might have to move the ref. forward a little to allow clearance. I had to do this and finished the exterior side gaps with trim.
