Wow that's great advice because I'm getting ready to make my first cross country trip (third time driving this rv or driving anything bigger than my 18 ft truck) I couldn't imagine the big ass windshields getting foggy I'd flip out

I have found that the dash AC is a big plus in our coach. Running just the coach AC does not adequately cool the driver. I have to have an extra fan pushing the cool air forward. I suffered through this for a few months till I fixed the dash AC. Now much better and when the big window fogs up having the AC and the top fans help clear it up. I am sure it affects mpg slightly but wind and hills make a much larger impact on mpg. Neither of which can be controlled.

I have a gas 8.1 34 ft we run the dash air most times unless the temperature is in the mid 80s and above we install a curtain across the front behind the the drive seat and use a small 9 volt fan it works great and my gas averages 7.5

I run the dash air, then turn on the gen and run the roof heat pumps if needed. If I was worried about a mpg or two I wouldn't have a MH!

I believe the salesman is trying to make you believe that because the AC is not working it's not worth it. I run my dash air all the time. If it gets hot I start the genny and one AC if necessary the 2nd AC. In any event I run the rear AC to cool down the heat in the bedroom.

Maybe he read this:
http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/n...yths/index.htm

Or this:
https://www.thebalance.com/air-condi...hicles-3972764

Or this:
http://www.westernstartrucks.com/_As...myBrochure.pdf

Or this:
http://www.icondirect.com/pages/RV-F...ngs-Guide.html

Or maybe he read the Cummins literature on improving fuel economy which also discusses the a/c system.

Just having some fun with you. I agree that it sounds like he was making an excuse for the system not working. As far as removing the belt, that's just ridiculous, they installed it for a reason.

As for us, we travel down the road with both the dash and all three a/c's running.
