Does anyone have a fix for the under dash air conditioner blowing warm air when the AC is set to max cold. My 2001 Airstream 30 foot motor home with 8.1 liter gas engine is build on the GM Workhorse Chassis; simply stated the AC does not blow cold air. Period!

The AC system unit appears to be grossly undersized for the vehicle. Is there a fix? Or will I have to just live with no cold air. Help!

Since you are asking here the way you are asking we can assume you do not have the ability to DIY repair.

Later models usually hold charge better so it could be simple fix.

But if you have no clue then you could be dangerous.

You could get a chassis manual from GM and do the basic troubleshooting for things like power, fuses and minor things.

Otherwise a trip to GM truck service in order...not rv service

It could be a simple 25c fix or it could be an $800 rebuild or anything inbetween - until you have it correctly diagnosed there is no saying.

Very few MHs have effective a/c in hot weather - they are usually enough to blow cold air at your face but will do nothing to cool down the MH. Most people run the generator and the house air to supplement the dash ac in hot weather.

If your system is low on freon the compressor will not run. Get a friend or neighbor that knows how to check the pressure to see if it simply low pressure. In 12 years 123a can seep out of the system and cause low pressure cutoff. 123a molecules are smaller than the old R12 and leak down over time without having a major leak. Of course there are other problems you could have, but that is a simple one to start on.
