From that point on, until the lanes get emptied, everyone will be later than they otherwise would have been -- it's a permanent reduction in total capacity, until the queue completely clears.
As to who cares -- *I* do. Will I go off into a rage about some guy doing it? Of course not. But do I want to be aware of the consequences of my actions and make sure *I* don't become that guy? Absolutely. I'm not talking about being some whiney wimp going out of my way to be a doormat. I'm talking about being aware of when my selfish actions benefit me at an outsized cost to others, and avoiding those kinds of situations.

I submit to you that by blocking fuel delivery from 4 pumps he maximized the flow rate/delivery rate to his tank. Therefore he has done everyone a favor in fueling up and then vacating as quickly as possible.
Haven't you ever noticed that your delivery rate goes up as other pumps around you shut off?
I hope the "Offender" the OP pointed to is an IRV2 participant and is sharing in all the laughs here!

From this I can only assume that no one was there, other pumps were available, and no one was inconvenienced.
Maybe the OP could clarify.

Never used a Costco Fuel Station but don't they have Lane Attendants?

I would think the job of fuel attendant these days is to block out of service pumps, spread absorbent upon spills, and help the unfamiliar with purchase access.

Ok one more reply for me!.... even if what you state is correct (the lanes were clear at the time)..IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE. it happens to be all cars or Potentially another RV that come after, that become inconvenienced. A gas station can go from empty to packed in a hurry, depending in the size of the station.

You would hate me. Every time I fill up, I block 3 pumps and I only use 1. Of course that’s at a truck stop where I pump 25 gallons a minute. When done, I pull up to the yellow line.
FWIW, the three pumps are 2 diesel & 1 def.
Just wondering why folks have a hard time getting around a 45” RV. Also, just how do you get 200 gallons of diesel in a rig that small?

I as well only fuel at truck stops, using the truck lanes.. our coach is normally too large to fit in the RV lanes.. We normally use the two [L & R] diesel pumps at the same time.[thankfully our coach does not require def..]
And yes, Our tanks are 200 gallons.[185 gal useable]

I agree with you. As upset as some get over such a minor inconvenience as waiting to get fuel, what must the do over something that really mattered?

While you are waiting, just visualize yourself driving a team of oxen pulling a covered wagon through the rutted trail across the blazing hot prairie as your 1800's version RV. You wouldn't have had to deal with all the inconvenience of sitting in your climate conditioned plush reclining drivers' seat listening to your Bose stereo and watching a Youtube flick as you are sipping your fresh hot latte while you wait for your turn at the pump. That's what I do.
