Funny I see this thread today. Yesterday I was in the truck and stopped at a gas station. All pumps were empty so I ran in real quick to buy something prior to pumping.....which I never do normally. When I came out all pumps were full and a truck was behind mine waiting on the pump. Even though I still needed fuel I got in the truck and left. Went up the road to the next station and fueled up. My daughter thought I had gone nuts. I told her I would've felt like a jerk if I would've came out and pumped after being inside first when someone was waiting on the pump.

Have you ever stopped at a Buc-ee’s?

Huge place with about a 1000 pumps. But people will fuel up then leave their car blocking the pump and go inside. Now, if you know nothing about Buc-ee’s, know this. There is no such thing as a quick in-and-out. Buc-ee’s is an event . . . and when you leave your car, you’ll be gone for twenty minutes at least. . . . But people still do it and care less about who’s waiting. Usually I can find another pump! Life goes on.

Happens all the time. Because Credit cards limits you to $75 or $100 at a time I go into the store and tell them that I want x amount of gas, they charge it to the CC (like $250) and I go out and pump. If I need more I go back in and repeat the process. I'm not being rude or inconsiderate, I'm getting gas/diesel. People need to get over it.

When the pump hits the monetary limit and shuts off, I have been able to reinsert the card and continue pumping. However, I can do that twice.

I’ve done that. And the bank’s security department shut my card off. . . even though I’ve told them multiple times not to.

Solution: I got an EFS card from TSD Logistics. Fueling up is now so simple!

It's comforting to know that there are still a few considerate people like you out there!!

I would never do that but many people do NOT care about anyone else.
They act like spoiled children and this RVer would be the first to scream out loud if someone ever did that to him.

You left your vehicle at the pump without pumping? Why do you and so many others do that? Surely you have seen placards asking that you pull away after pumping!

Since I replaced my sending unit I can estimate really close how much fuel I'll take. I used to re-insert my card but I like to get one receipt for the fuel so I can calculate my mpg instead of writing each sub-fill down and .... it was painful. So I take my card in, usually ask for more fuel than I'll need and when done I go in and get the final receipt and my card is only charged for what is used.

I only fill at truck stops. I'm in no one's way, I can fill both sides, and I RESPECT the truckers' because they are working.

My dad used to drive all over town to get the lowest price; he spent more $ getting there than he saved!

I fueled up my 40' gas MH the other day for the first time at Costco. Although I didn't go so wide as to block access to the adjoining lane, I was tempted to because at this particular Costco, its a hard left exiting the pumps, and tail swing is what it is. Better safe than sorry.

Right? He's trying to expedite his fuel stop by utilizing 2 pumps. What's inconsiderate about that?

Why we use Truck Stops. Would never consider using Costco or the “auto” side of a gas station. One for maneuverability & 2 we use TSD and have been able to get $.40 & $.60/gal off. May not always be cheapest but close & stress free. That is worth a lot to us. Oh….we are in an out quickly as we only have 100 gal tank (and usually fill at 3/4 at the most) & pay at the pump.
