Indiana bans class A from truck diesel pumps
Effective 09-01-13 if you do not have a DOT number Indiana (motor home capital of the world) will force you to attempt to fuel out front with the Mercedes.
The truck pumps have fuel exemptions and private coaches must pay the full price. So they will force you to the front. ONLY Flying J has the technology to charge either price "Out Back" but you will need the Flying J RV Real Value Card that activates the pump, there is a special process to set this up.

Can't see that ever working out. A 45 foot coach with car or trailer in tow trying to fill up in front. Yeah that'll last.

We were in Indiana in July and that was already there.
Diesel is a real pain, with a 40' and a toad. Came back thru in Aug.
Made sure I had enough diesel to get thru the state o the way back!!!!!!

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see this coming. Several posts through out IRV2 and other RV sites have folks saying how they would just make up a DOT number. Besides, many folks familiar with IN tend to make it a "drive over" state because of this hassle.
To me the biggest hassle was truly being able to know from the signs what MY price would have been.

I can't remember now whether it was Illinois or Indiana that had super high diesel prices. It was at least 25¢ per gallon higher than neighboring states. I do remember that when we went to Michigan earlier this summer I made sure I was full of fuel when I left Michigan so that I didn't have to fill again until I was in Missouri.

My experience living on I-74 running between Champaign & Indianapolis a lot is that IN was higher. Another reason I avoided fuel in IN unless needed.

With these tactics, In. will be loosing a lot of money in taxes (I assume they add taxes to these purchases) in RV sales. I have to believe most RVers, when they hear about this will also ensure they can make it through In. without fueling.

Obviously, Indiana doesn't want my business so I won't give it to them. With a 900 + mile range, it will definitely not be difficult. No brainer issue.
How do you spell Thhhbbbbbbbbtttt (a Bronx cheer!!)?

Some of the roughest interstate in the country...maybe they should ask the truckers to pay the higher prices (the highest we've seen since we started full time last Dec). Then they can use that money to fix the roads that the trucks are doing their fair share in ruining!

RV'ers not stopping to fuel may also mean not stopping to spend a night. That will also cause some revenue loss, as if they really care.

Just another bunch of politicians without any common sense. The world would be a great place without them.

Dot # easy enough to come by. Just look at the truck next lane?? I never go to truck lane anyway. Generally won't even stop at the truck stops. I can generally get into most any stations. May have to wait 5 minutes to get out.

I lived in Indiana for 40 years. Did you ever notice as you enter Indiana, from any direction, the trees all bend towards Indianapolis in the center of the state?
It is proof that Indiana sucks.

Color me the same, as the other RV'ers that will pass through IN, and not buy any diesel.
