We are going to look at another country couch intrigue 40' on saturday, it looks good in the pics but you know how that goes, it has the cummins 8.3 300hp. Im a little worried about pulling grades with the 300hp and our toad (Buick rendezvous)

The other coach we are going to look at is a 99 Beaver Patriot Ticonderoga 37', the only down side for me is it has the cat 3126 330hp and a rear radiator with air over hydro brakes (not that much of a down side really just not what i wanted). I have looked at the beaver before and its in really good condition, plus has tire 2 years old, new shocks, bags, and battery's over the last 2 years, roof was resealed this season, The DW wants to see this one in person before saying yes, we got the seller to go 27500 on the price

Make sure you have a spare 10 to 15 k in reserve for emergency repairs, whichever rv you buy.

I had a 98 40’ Patriot...overall a good MH with the nicest woodwork of any MH.The Cat 3126 is a good engine with plenty of power, especially in a 37’. Always felt the air/hydraulic brakes were a little weak and the parking brake on the driveshaft took some getting used to.

Unfortunately comparing HP, instead of liters or torque does not tell you what you really need to know about a engine.
A Cat 330 HP 3126 is 7.2L with 860 ft lbs.
The 8.3L Cummins 300HP has 860 ft lbs too.
The newer ISC (electronic 8.3) has 950.

Where it gets really confusing is the Cummins ISB ...a really good small engine.
Early 5.9L were 160 hp and 400 increasing to 245/660
The ISB 6.7L is rated 370 HP but only 850 torque... less than a 300 HP 8.3.

The ISL’s HP is 400, 425, and 450 BUT the torque is 1200-1250 for all three. If you are going to us HP I recommend using 400 for all 3. A 425 started in 2007 with a DPF and the 450 in 2010 with DPF and DEF.
