Never file a claim for a few hundred dollars ! It's cheaper in the long run to pay out of pocket for the small stuff then to file a claim.....

When we purchased our DP we were waiting for sticker shock from the difference to insure our 8 yr old C and the new 40 footer. We weren't disappointed when we received quotes from Good Sam (GMAC), Hartford, Progressive and Foremost.

Our dealer hooked us up with Estelle Hunt of American Adventure Insurance who located a policy with Blue Sky that had much better coverage for $400-$600 less than the others. It actually was only a couple of hundred dollars more than our old policy.

My policy is to make my Ins. Agent shop my coverage out every year. With no claims I will not lie still for a raise out of the clear blue.

Don't assume that Good Sams always equates to GMAC. I went through GS's and they set me up with Allied. GMAC does not write policies for RV's in North Carolina. My Allied policy is 838.00 per year.

I've requested quotes from all the carriers mentioned here and then some. Just go online and fill out the online quote forms. Nobody could beat my current Grange coverage at $119 every 6 months. We do have another vehicle insured with them as well as our home so we received the mulitipolicy discount. I also just increased my deductible because we own a body shop that fixes RVs so I figured it was really silly to carry a low deductible.

Thanks for all your comments. I will be shopping around. Our present insurance is with National Interstate Ins. Co. They will be getting a call shortly after Christmas. Again, Thanks to all. Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year

We also have National Interstate. We previously had Farm Bureau for many years when they suddenly said they would not insure anything valued over $100,000, even tho everything else we have, car, house, etc is with them. So after calling around we found National Interstate for less than $1000 per year. We have had no claims so far, but I have read that they are very good with their claims also.

We just got our renewal from GMAC for 44% increase, was 1818 on RV and toad, now they want 2590. No reason other than "we can"....they claim they did a "rate revision" with our home state of Louisiana. We have been with them for 3 years, no claims, no accidents, no tickets, no age increase (by brackets). Called around to Foremost, National, local agent, Poliseek.....all within $400 of GMAC. But Geico just quoted me $1736 per year on same coverages, minus only the total loss. We're at 4 years so we would have lost that next year anyway. But I have to find out what "FMV" on my rv is....still have note. :( But 1736 is way better than 2590 so have to consider it.
