Insurance Companies
My insurance company is raising my rate $224 and is raising them across the country I'm told. Who do some of you have and how did you come about choosing them?

With 4 cars, one pickup, MH and a driver under 21 we saved $1100 a year by switching to Geico. Since then wife hit a deer, older daughter was at cause and got her brand new Civic side swiped and younger daughter totalled her car. No rates raised and excellent service.

I went with The Hartford for all the vehicles and house and saved some $2,500 over Pemco (house ins that I've had since 1968) and National General for the vehicles.

We had GEICO for 34 years, until they raised our rate by $600 per year. The reason? We had a claim for $450.00. Moved over to SAFECO and saved over $900 plus we have a 1-year policy. I don't think we'll go back to GEICO.

I bundled 2 cars, homeowners, RV, and umbrella policy with Hartford AARP and save $1200 a year over AAA and National General. After 7 years with National General they raised my rates 30% after a windshield claim.

I have State Farm Mutual (owned by policyholders). I was a claims adjuster for them for 7 years and then an agent for 28 years. In either capacity, I found them to allow me to be fair to the customer. Like all companies they must go by what the policy says, but, when there was ambiguity they sided with the policy holder. I have checked around and have not found anyone as competitive or having nationwide service. I am sure there are dissatisfied customers out there, but I can only tell you how I have seen it for 35 years. My class A costs me 753.00 per year.

We used Miller Insurance to search for the best price for us. We know many others who use them. They know RVs and especially full-timing RVers:
Miller Insurance Agency
It's best to search for good rates every 3 years or so. They all raise them after a while.

State farm here, mainly because I already had auto insurance through them, $82 per month including their towing insurance, I think it was a little cheaper if paid a year at a time, but they offered automatic payment for monthly and not if done as annual policy.

The first question is are you a full timer. That alone changes the number of insurance companies available for you insurance needs.
We are and have been GEICO customers for over 30 years. Yes we did experience a rate increase this year (an overall increase in our domicile state of South Dakota verified by our own personal GEICO insider).
Can we get it cheaper? Probable! However they have serviced all of our needs incredible well all these years. Better the devil I know than the one I don't.

Not full time, going to make a move from Allied which is Nationwide. May stay with the same broker because I like his service on the phone.

Had Liberty Mutual until they doubled my rates for a claim under $1000.
Moved over to National General (Good Sam) and haven't been able to beat their rates for the last two years.
To everyone that complains about rates being raised over a period of time.
It's no different than a gallon of milk increasing in price over the years. Or you getting a raise.
It's funny how everyone wants to make a ton of money but don't want to pay for products or services rendered at current costs.
I think it's called inflation ? Within reason of course.

In many, many years of owning cars, trucks, trailers, and motor homes....I've found that "all" of the insurance companies will (eventually) raise your rates unnecessarily.
Therefore, I will once a year, get estimates from at least five and sometimes as much as ten different insurance companies and choose the cheapest. You just have to make sure that you state the same coverage for each estimate to insure you're comparing apples to apples
Currently I have Geico, but just as soon as they raise my rate, I will go through this exercise once more.

Let me know how you make out. Nationwide keeps raising my rates 10% to 20% each year without a claim or ticket. I keep threatening to leave but have dealt with the increases by changing my deductible or insured value each year. If they raise my rates again by what you've experienced, they'll lose me too. Let me know how you make out and who you end up with.
