Insurance recommendations?

The insurance on the Windsor is coming up for renewal 8/16, and I'm looking for quotes. Right now it is with National General. Can anyone suggest a company that I should check with?

National General was the cheapest for me. I shopped it hard too.

We just switched from Progressive to Safeco. Saved about $400.

There's always GEICO, but review the quote closely for high deductibles on comprehensive and collision. That's how they quote such low rates.

I've gone to The Hartford for all my insurance. Saved me about $1,300 just on the vehicles and another $600 on the stick house.

It's not all about the price. Make sure the service is going to be there when you need it. One good way to judge insurance companies is to talk with the body shops and get their input as to which companies are difficult to deal with.

Ameriprise thru Costco would not insure the RV as the MSRP was over $100k even though I paid about 32% below MSRP new.

I signed up with Progressive but for some reason they insured the coach for full MSRP price and then wrote the policy stating they would only caver Actual Cash Value (ACV). An agent reviewed the policy, wondering why I was insured for MSRP. We agreed on an actual cash value for total loss (about what I paid for it) and it dropped my premium from around $750 down to just over $500.

I like their disappearing deductible and once you get that down to zero, you can increase your deductible, significantly dropping the policy amount and still have an actual zero deductible. Like from $1000 ded. to $5k ded.

It might pay to check you are paying for a realistic ACV and not something based on an inflated MSRP.

I am in the process of buying a new coach. I have done a lot of comparison shopping for insurance with all the name brand insurance companies. The coach is a newer Newmar Essex so take that into consideration in the results i got. National General was by far the best price.

Insurance recommendations?

Joe,
There are no simple answers on insurance.

You need to comparison shop the reputable companies. Price depends on your driving record, location class, and each level of coverage.

I am in Rural Route Class 1. It is the lowest location cost in PA. If I lived in Philladelpia the over-all rate would triple.

Each insurer has rates that vary by state, or even by county.

Make sure the quotes are one-on-one for all coverage levels. Some like to provide lower pricing via lower coverage.

So, no simple answers. You must shop. Brokers may help.
My address is in RR1 insurance area of PA.
I am with Erie, they know we are F/T(so listed in the policy) and we have the highest coverage available in every category.
It's $1925/year ($160/month) for MH and toad. 09 Monaco and 12 Wrangler.
Just saying.
YA GOTTA SHOP!

AARP Hartford would not quote my coach because they do not insure newer high value coaches plus they said my auto would also have to be with them.

Thanks for your suggestions everyone! I called Geico yesterday and their quote was more than double what we've been paying National General!

I found the same and Progressive was just as high.
