Intellilec not saving battery

My 2000 Sportsman, freightliner chassis, 275 cummins. The chassis batteries do not stay up even though they are only a month old. Now I keep the + cables d/C to keep them from drawing down. The batteries are Elite deep cycle. The Intellilet is model BD2 and I keep it in store mode for the chassis batteries. When I connect cables I do not see a spark but have not tested with volt meter to determine if there is s draw. Thought perhaps there is a way to ck. the Intellit. Why would batteries loose power when it is turned off. Engine will not start if it is turned off or in store mode. Thanks for your help.

I know this isn't going to help but why deep cycle batteries for the Chassis?
How long does it sit when it goes dead?
Is the unit plugged into any shore power?
Just trying to get some more info.

I agree with Funhaus. Why are you using deep cycle batteries for the chassis? Is the battery a true deep cycle battery or a marine battery that's also called a deep cycle battery?

Don't make the assumption that the batteries are good just because they are only a month old.

Since my original post I have had to reconnect the batteries to use some equipment. When I done this I took care to find the lead that was drawing power even with Intellet disconnected, though I am not sure what all is involved in the cluster yet. I need to do more investigation to find where the draw is coming from exactly.

Chances are you will not find it or if you do it will not be worth messing with disconnecting and remembering to reconnect. A battery disconnect at the battery is a better idea.

FWIW - Chassis battery=starting battery - CCA rated short time high rate discharge
House Battery runs the house - should be deep cycle long slow discharge
