Red face Interior step cover will not extend

Hello

I am in the process of installing granite to the steps risers and sides of the inside entrance stairs on my 2005 Windsor.
Before I had a chance to start work the step quit working, I did have intermittant problems prior but usually after a couple of tries on the rocker switch it would come out. This time it will not move....just clicks and nothing. I can not see inside at all and as far as I can tell there is no access to motor the Monacco tech says to open up the gen and cut a hole in from the bottom. This sounds like a lot of work especially in the B.C. Rain. Does anyone else have a better idea.

Have you tried building up your air pressure? The one time it happened to us, it was because we had lost air pressure in our system after sitting for a couple of weeks.

Hi arniev,
If there is power to the switch (fuse okay) and you can not pull the step out/up (no mechanicals broken) then the tech was correct. Yes, it is a lot of work. In B.C. this may need to wait until warmer weather. When under the coach, at least you are out of the rain.

Someone else posted a reply suggesting I remove the carpet off the front face then removing two screws holding the plywood riser on the moving shelf. I then might be able to reach in far enough to free it up. Seems when I was looking under the cover in the extended position (when it was working) the mechanism was like a scissor. Seems as if in the very tight closed position it no longer had the action allowing it to extend and was at a 90 degree to each other. Tomorrow is the day I will find out as carpet coming off anyway to facilitate installation of granite (just will not be able to final fit granite or install it to front face of cover)

I fixed the problem without having to cut the hole under the coach....I removed the two (as it turned out it was three) screws as someone suggested, on the plywood face of the cover...I then was able to get a vise grip onto the end of the worm gear drive, I only had to turn it clockwise one turn and it started. I then installed plywood blocks to the drawer so that it could not retract the extra distance beyond where scissor action would work..now it works perfectly.
