inverter

I have a prowatt 1500 inverter. The inverter works if plugged directly into it. But will not switch automatically. Any suggestions why this is happening?
Thanks

A couple things come to mind. Is your AC supplying correct volts? Perhaps the cable fuse is bad or there may be a GFIC circuit tripped.

Can you better describe the circumstances when it doesn't switch automatically? And where the loads are plugged in in not direct to the inverter?

If they only work when plugged direct, you have a problem with the wiring or outlets in the coach, not the inverter itself.

My question may sound a bit strange but what converter do you have on that house?

A progressive Dymamics 9180 can suck 1300 watts running, the initial inrush will be well over 1500 watts and that will shut down your inverter pronto.

Same with several other devices, You can read the RUNNING current off the name plate but the inrush power when you plug in is way, way, way higher.

What automatic switching are you expecting? As near as I can see from the specs, the Xantrex Prowatt 1500 does not have an automatic transfer switch built in, so your RV must have some other mechanism to change from shore power to inverter. Like maybe plugging stuff directly into it? Or is there an external transfer switch somewhere?

Did it used to switch and does not do so anymore? Or are you trying to figure out how to use it for the first time? I ask becuase not all inverters are setup to automatically switch.

Mine is a add-on, and there is a receptical on the output of the inverter that gets the power cord from the coach is plugged into - a very manual switch.
