Get your multimeter out !! And fing volyage drop mesure "in line" across connections. Put your multimeter to dc volt. Should be a strait line above a V.

Here is a video, there is great info on how to use the multimeter to find trouble.

Three feet for the inverter cables is a good short length. The shorter the better without putting the inverter in with the batteries. When you say the cable size is 2 or larger is that #2 or 2/0? For a 2000w Magnum inverter the minimum cable size in free air is 2/0.
