Inverter question

As the new owner of a class a dp i have an inverter question
If i leave my coach plugged in for my michigan winter is it safe to let the inverter run?
I want to use a 110 outlet in the coach and i am wondering if it would be harmful
Just going to plug in one of those supersonic mouse deflectors
Thanks for your help

If you're plugged in to shore power you don't need the inverter turned on. Some people will tell you to leave it on all the time, but personally I like to turn off things that aren't being used.

Also, if you leave on and shore power fails, the inverter could run down your batteries until they may not be rechargeable. The inverter is supposed to shut down when the battery voltage gets to low. So do and others do not.

With the inverter shut off and there is shore power, the inverter has an internal transfer relay to by pass the inverter and route the shore power directly to the circuit(s) the inverter powers.

With one exception, I never turn the inverter on unless on the road to keep the refer running. The one exception is when in storage hooked to regular house current, and the temps will be below freezing. If only slightly below freezing, I have 12 old (get hot) light bulbs scattered around...in the refer, washer, kitchen water lines, etc and have the Aqua Hot winterized. If going to be real cold, 15 or lower, I turn the AH burner and the inverter on. When that cold, I check the power every day, so if the power goes off and the inverter picks up the load, I will know it and the batteries will not run down.

It depends on how your inverter works. My inverter/charger is totally off when turned off.

It's a personal choice.....I've had a Magnum Inverter in three different DP's since 2005. On all three coaches, the inverter has been left on 24/7/365. My coach is parked at my house, and I know what my shore power is doing.

I leave my Magnum inverter on all the time. I run a heater/fan to dehumidify the coach. I finally found in my model coach the GFCI outlets in the 1.2 bath that connect to floor heating run of line 2 that is not powered by the inverter. When power goes out the heater/fan stops working and the inverter only powers the refrigerator and other essentials so the battery draw is low.
I do not know your coach make or model.
