Inverters and oxygen concentrator compatibility
Next week I need to transport my parents-in-law for a 10 odd hour drive. One of them should use (really needs) oxygen during the trip. We will be transporting the oxygen concentrator anyway, so might as well tuck it in the back bathroom and run it back there.
The question is … can I just run it off the inverter, or should I have the generator running continuously to cover the draw? I have no idea whether a concentrator is considered a “high draw” appliance (like a microwave or toaster)….
(I’m not worried about depleting the batteries … the engine will be running near continuously, and we will be running in daylight, and I have 600 watts of solar on the roof. Mostly I am wondering if the inverter might be overtaxed. Anyone here have experience with the ins and outs of running a concentrator on board? )
