iPad Rand McNally GPS
Has anyone heard anything from the Rand McNally group re: map updates.
I think it is close to 2 years since I received my last update.
I tried the "search function" but no luck there.

My father worked for Rand McNally for his whole adult life, so I have used their products since I was able to read a map. I was the unofficial back-seat navigator until I learned to drive. I think that the iPad app is a complete waste of money, and I'd be hard-pressed to recommend it even if they gave it away for free. There have been no updates. Now that Rand has their own tablet for truckers, it seems likely that they will follow with an RV version. Maybe the software will be better. I suspect that the app will be discontinued.

I have had the iPad RV GPS program for a few years and agree with Slowmachine. I don't think there will be any further updates.
My recommendation would be CoPilot Premium HD https://copilotgps.com/us/personal/ipad.asp It isn't quite as easy to use as the Rand program, but it is regularly updated and has a RV mode.

I use & recommend the Navigon app for navigation. Well worth the price and updated frequently.

Co-Pilot with iPad works great with updates. Less then $15 vs Rand at $99 with NO updates.

As I suspected, a phone call to Rand McNally confirmed that they have discontinued all support for the iPad RV GPS app. If you still have it, and it is working, don't delete it. The maps are no longer available for download and there will be no further updates. Per their instructions, I sent a request to Apple for a refund of the $99 that I spent a year ago. I'll follow-up with the results.

Co-pilot has a new app out now for RV's that cost $49.99. Just started using it and works great.

As mentioned above I've been using the app now for about a month. We are fulltimers and it's worked great. I chose to get the RV app because our toy hauler 5er is 13'6" tall. The Co-pilot premium app has a RV setting but only goes up to 13'. If you RV is under 13' tall you can use the premium app. I used it for years without any issues and it never steered us wrong.

Final comment: Apple will not issue a refund, and I have no more time to waste on it.

Yep, same thing I ran into after a 1-1/2 hour chat conversation. The following was the final comment with no option for me to reply to it or ask for escalation to the next level:
Glady (from iTunes):
Please understand that while the iTunes Store Support is able to assist you with your purchases and even repost or refund an item that may not be working well, that as more time passes, our ability to resolve any issue you are experiencing diminishes greatly. In the future, please be sure to report issues with purchases at your earliest convenience so that we can be sure to provide the best possible resolution for you. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.
I have been using the CoPilot Premium app for the past year and am very pleased with it. I purchased the RV version as it makes it easier to find Pilot/Flying J stations and campgrounds. Otherwise the routing capabilities are the same as the Premium version.

Refund!
For all of you that feel stung by Rand McNally not supporting the app as promised, once you have gone through the run-around of trying to get a refund through I-tunes (a process that I believe was designed to weed out a large percentage of complainants) you can get a refund throug Rand McNally. Just call their 800 number and ask for a supervisor. Explain that ITunes said no. They will want to see a receipt for your ITunes purchase (accessible through your computer not phone or iPad).

I saw that if you want the Live Traffic feature it's another $10/mo and requires you to be online....BUT...if you choose not to have live traffic, how in the world does the turn by turn feature work when the stored maps are offline? How do the maps know where you are and where your going? Went to their website and it doesn't explain this that I could find.
