Life saver

Back in time, before cellphones I honestly believe my CB saved not only my life but my 1 year old son and his two cousins. Long story short I got caught in a blizzard (in my car) and slid off the road about a mile from home. Fortunately there was a mailbox close enough to read the name. I talked to another CBer at her home and she called the family and told them I was stuck in front of their house. I had no idea how treacherous the conditions were outside the car as I'd never been in a blizzard before. Once outside the cousins were shocked and couldn't move. I had to pick them up and carry them about 30 yards to the front door. After 2 trips I was completely exhausted. I was only 35 but weighed a bit more than I should have. Slept on the couch with my son on my chest. Bonding time! I look back at some of the dumb things I've done and wonder how I made it this far. Son is 40 years old and a good man. Cell phones are great but what if you can't get a signal?

My RV broke down south of Riggins Idaho on hwy 95. There was NO CELL SERVICE! Lucky for us we were in a rest stop that had an old fashioned pay phone. A CB radio would have been very useful. I'm installing one in my RV before we travel in it again.
