Is it just me ?

We have a Gulfstream DP that we love, however I have always wondered why the drivers seat is off centered to the left of the steering wheel. Other DP I have sat in are also a little off centered to the left. Is it just me ?

The drives seat is in the correct place - its the steering wheel that's off center.
Just kidding - I don't know.

My Providence was that way. I pulled the seat and moved it right. Wish I had went just a little more. Its still lots better than it was.

Maybe it is so driver can get a better view angle on outside mirror. The windshield pillar post used to partially block my view of my front mounted bus type mirror on the left side. I solved the problem by going to side mounted mirrors. Some Tiffin motor home models have side mount mirror on left and front mount bus type on right. I never thought of moving the drivers seat to fix the problem. Would probably work, but would feel awkward not being centered on steering wheel while driving.

I swear I think my Newmar gasser is offset a little left. Not a lot but I don't think its centered with the steering wheel.

My DSDP was off an inch , the steering column was centered in the opening in the lower dash , the plate on the bottom of the swivel mount had enough extra metal on the lower flange to re-drill and center the seat behind the wheel and use the original mountings through the floor.
Lost 1" of walk way space between the seats; and gained a lot of shoulder comfort on long drives.
Seat is easier to swivel 180, too.

As I think more about it, mine is offset to the left just enough to clear the facing on the slide. If it were any further to the right the slide would interfere with the seat by several inches.

I noted the slide flange clearance before I relocated the seat , it's closer but still clears ( just ). Some layouts may not be so lucky.
