Onan's device is the EC-30 (requires about 8 hours install due to wiring to demand devices). The EC-30W was discontinued.

In the aftermarket, Magnum and Xantrex make stand alone units with different functions.

Best luck

I just bought the Magumn one and will be installing it tomorrow . It alows you to set the time you want the generator to run and how long you want it to run. Also can be set to start for low voltage or high temperature . Looks pretty easy to install .

Would like a report on how installation goes and your expertise

You could retrofit your RV with Onan Energy Command 30 AutoStart. This is standard on many higher end RVs with Onan generators. My guess is that a qualified RV tech could install in 8 hours labor or less. Parts would be under $ 500.

https://www.coloradostandby.com/ener...tart-018-02030

Energy Command Features:

· Automatic generator turn on to meet air conditioning demands for up to four units
· Regularly monitors and displays battery levels and provides power to the inverter to charge batteries
· Unique "look-ahead" feature tops off battery prior to "quiet time"
· Easily program your own "quiet time" hours and battery charging preferences
· Automatically starts/stops generator on low/full batteries
· Displays generator hour meter, maintenance reminders and diagnostic text messages for easy troubleshooting
· Safety start inhibits automatic generator starting in unsafe conditions

Ok, installed the Magnuem AGS S stand-alone system today and it works as advertised. The install took me about 4 hours because I was being very careful in running the wires and double checking my work. On the my Georgetown, the Onan remote start switch is located in the center of the dash along with a bunch of other switches. Connecting the AGS controller was pretty strigh5 forward and easy to hook up by connecting into the Onan wiring at the remote. The only real problem I had was where I wanted to mount the AGS remote switch is more then 25 feet from the controller and they only give you a 25 foot data cable with RJ12 connectors on both ends. I looked everywhere in my small town for a longer data cable and could not find one so ordered one from Amazon and will be here Monday. For now the 25 foot cable is hooked up and the remote panel is just laying on the dash. Will permanently mount it when I receive the longer cable.

I bought five rolls of different color 16 gauge wire and one roll of 14 gauge to hook to the positive side of the house batteries. You will also need three inline fuse holders and three 5 amp fuses plus some quick splice connectors to complete the job.

On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give this one. 5 for difficulty.

Good to hear George. I wouldn't be without mine AGS...but I purchased the EC30W back when it was still available. Install was 5 minutes. Must be a liability thing on why they stopped marketing the wireless models.

Yea, I waited too long and missed the EC-30w. I was waiting for Onan to come out with something to replace it with but not seeing it.

Thanks everyone for the ideas.

I have looked at the manuals for the Magnum AGS and the Xantrex. The Magnum doesn't look like it will work. The quiet times are preset. The xantrex is programmable so it is possible to set it to run at least on generator hour. You could set the quiet hours to 11 am (off) to 9 am (on) for example to have it run from 9-11am. I have sent an email to them to see if can be set to come on twice a day. It is more complicated than the Magnum in that it requires a separate control panel. It also has some other inputs that could be wired to an external timer but that would require even more parts.
