Issues found at PDI

Hi,

I had my PDI Pdi yeaterday for my new to me Itasca Latitude workhorse ufo. The coach was on consigement at general rv.

The dealer is fiiting a complete new jacks system and an electronic slide lock.

The steps will not run in fully, they stick out about 6 inches, they reckon it will need new steps. The tech tried to tell me they were in as far as they go, but looking at the brochurr tells me different

After replacing the starter battery it developed an ABS malfunction alert. My scan gauge or the shop scanner could not detect a code. They are getting a heavy truck shop to check it out.

Hopefully I will have the coach for my shake down trip next weekend.

I'd not finalize the sale until everything is satisfactory or a price adjustment to cover repairs is given. If you take it off their lot, they could weasel out of any verbal promises.

Looks like a very clean coach. The steps are not in all the way and should be easy to diagnose. Maybe someone with the same model can post a picture of their steps, so you can show the dealer.

Be patient and give them a chance to fix everything. You don't want to alienate them and then have something go bad in two weeks.

"The tech tried to tell me they were in as far as they go..."

Wow...either not a very good tech or he's trying to pull the wool over your eyes.

I agree with the statement that everything needs to be fixed before leaving.

Hope it all gets done and you enjoy the coach for many years to come.

Weird things happen to these Chassis when the chassis battery is disconnected or replaced. If I have any error messages I just turn the battery disconnect off, wait a little and turn it back on. That usually clears the error.

The steps look like they need a new motor and gear, that is what it took to fix mine.

After 11 years all of my jacks have been replaced (at various times) and the jack controller has been replaced once. If the jacks act up (after battery replacement) try removing the control panel and unplug the 2 smallest connectors. Wait a minute or so and then replug them. That is what fixes mine.

Thanks all,

To be fair the dealership has been very good to deal with it. I will not be moving off the lot until they fix everything. Its all on their dime.

They told me about the jacks before the PDI and its written down on the sales agreement as is the slide lock issue. We did not operate the steps during the PDI and only noticed it when transferring my gear over. Both the tech and I missed. I was leaving the coach overnight ti he picked up today.

Hi Ufo pilot,

They said they disconnected the battery a few times. I will tell them to do so for longer.

I am glad they are replacing the jacks :-)

Olskool4x4 and UFO pilot seem like the UFO guys here, and Olskool4x4 has posted up some great videos on the brake system and other projects on his UFO.
