Kidde Recall Info - Bracket

I recently received my replacement fire extinguisher under the recall program. My old one had a plastic neck and was held on the wall with a plastic bracket. The new one had a metal neck and required a fork type bracket which was provided. The problem was that the new bracket did not have a band attached to hold the extinguisher against the wall. After spending over an hour on the phone with Kidde, this is what I found. Call Kidde Customer Service @ 1-800-880-6788 - do NOT call the recall phone number. Tell them you need part no. 466401. Hope this info helps others.

Is this new bracket a pay-for item?

No. I told them I needed it because of the difference in the fire extinguisher and they sent it NO CHARGE.

Mine had the band attached to the bracket as a tear off type part that would be used. It actually looks like a part of the bracket that mounts to the wall.

How long did it take to get your replacements. I did mine about 2 months ago and nothing yet.

I submitted my original request for replacements on line and it took @ 6 weeks before I got the fire extinguishers. It then took another 4 weeks to get the brackets. I guess they are backed up because of the volume. They have a recall help line 1-855-262-3540 just for the recall.

Had three replaced, two I used the old brackets, one I had to install the new bracket. All came with the new bracket in the box. All were plastic and all had the strap attached, molded, on the mounting bracket. It's the funny looking legs on the side of the mounting bracket.

Thank you for sharing. I had to have the model number of the extinguisher. The gentleman took my information including email and he put in a request for my FX210. Now waiting to see if a new bracket will be sent. Less than 30 minutes including hold time. 😁
