I believe it is a southern dialect version of kitty corner or catty corner.

The bed has a switch that moves it before you put the slide in. The head of the bed moves up when the slide is in.the bed is on a frame that 2 motors move the head up. We replaced one motor but didn't fix the problems. The slide is even.

Cattywampus in the title is what made me read this thread. Read the thread to see if there was an answer. Here is what google told me.

The definition of cattywampus, often spelled catawampus, is not lined up or not arranged correctly, or diagonally.

An example of something cattywampus are the positions of the items on the top of a coffee table after a two year old has been playing with them and moving them around.

(informal) In disarray or disorder; askew.Measure carefully before cutting, or the entire structure will turn out cattywampus.
Not directly across from nor adjacent to.City hall is cattywampus to the post office

Wow...after all these years thinking it was 'feline peyote'.

The mattress that came in our RV was so heavy I could not lift the bed to get to the storage underneath. I went to Wal Mart and got a 4 inch memory foam to replace it. It is very comfortable as I have arthritis in my spine and on a C-pap. I have no trouble sleeping or getting to the storage. Some RV mattresses are just not that good.
