Kitchens in a slide
I'm looking for at used motorhomes and noticed a few put their kitchen in a slide. I am curious about the reliability of the Drain lines and Propane lines, an probably the water lines that move back and forth a bit. I assume they must be flexible and just wonder if they are problematic on an older coach? There are lots of coaches that the kitchen is fixed in place.
thanks, Bill

I have 1998 Holiday Rambler with a kitchen slide. The previous owner did say the flexible water drain pipe did weep at one point. I check it once in a while and it may have been a factory install issue. I can pull out drawers and watch the hoses while operating the slide. The amount of movement isn't that exaggerated. It's pretty much a non issue.

Ours, despite the fact the PO swore otherwise, had a grey water leak when we got it. I know the PO had full knowledge of the issue as it was totally obvious he had cobbled it badly in a really bad attempt at a repair (turned out he had "repaired" several other non related issues as well). Plumbing issue was easily repaired using the factory design and proper repair methods and has not be a problem since (5 years/75k miles).

The RVGeeks had a leak in their drain line and showed how to fix it. To date we have not had an issue with this in our Newmar. My reading indicates some designs are better than others.

Our 2001 Dutch Star has the kitchen in the slide as well. I was a little concerned about the movement of utilities as well. My concerns have been unfounded. The original owners were full time for 13 years (took immaculate care of coach), and we have used for two years now, no problems with the kitchen at all!

There are relatively few reports of this type of problem considering the number of IRV2 members.
I have a kitchen slide and have not had a problem to date.

We have had and do have kitchens in our slide(s). Both work well with no problems to date. The Newmar is the best of the two.

No problems here. RR in one slide, remainder of kitchen in another.

Thanks Everyone!!
I had searched the forums for "kitchen slide" prior to asking and really didn't see anything relevant going back a few years, but as a newbie had to ask as it seemed like it would be a reasonable place for lots of failures.

Don't feel bad asking questions here. There is always someone willing to help. I find the search on not just this forum a crap shoot. Sometimes it's perfect, sometimes no help.

No problems seen in any of our coaches that had kitchens in a slide.
