Kwikee Electric Step
I have a Kwikee Elec step on a 2003 Tiffin Workhorse chassis. Step functions as normal when Coach engine is started, Closed position. When we are stationary and engine is off the steps continuedly open and close with the door opening and closing even with the power switch in the off position.
So far I have checked the power switch for continuity, It is ok. It has 12V power. I checked voltage on the white wire at the controller and it has 12V. I have cleaned the ground wire and check for continuity.
I found three fuses located at the coach front labeled "Elec Step" All were ok.
Step info: Kwikee 903206000, s/n 70126, mfg. date 03/06/03
Any suggestions? Buy a new controller?

Is there any engine key position where it works OK? Some where between start, off and accessory? or halfway in between? Has it just started?

Check the magnet on the door, if it has one.

Step Issue
The magnet at the door works. The suggestion concerning the ignition maybe worth pursuing. It has given me problems lately removing the key, locking up on and off. How would I know if that could be the problem??

Step Issue
The on/off switch does work. Power on both sides when switched.

could be ignition
I recently replaced my ignition switch on my ford f53 chassis. my kwikee steps
was the reason i figured it out.I had no fog lights or power mirrors when ignition was turned on. steps would not go in when ignition was turned on.
could be your ignition is not shutting off and causing steps to get power even with switch shut off. ignition powers steps regardless of switch position.
that way steps will never stay out with engine running.

Push the door in and especially if it seems to be not hitting home in the vicinity of the door switch. Had that problem with our old gas coach once and cured it by strong arming and for twisting the door alignment, some.

Check the ground connection to frame from the door switch, gets wet, corrodes and rusts needs to be cleaned.

Following, as we have the same issue, and have to unplug the connector behind the steps to get the steps to stay out when camping.

Kwikee Electric Step
It looks as if my issue is with the ignition as far as my step problem. I have determined (I hope) that the 12v to the step switch is coming from the ignition switch. I have a continuous 12V to the step all of the time. My door switch turns the 12V off at the switch but 12V remains at the step.
My next step is to replace the ignition module, not the key tumbler.
Any feed back before I spring for the ignition module would be appreciated.
