Kwikee Revolution steps motor
I have a 2012 Winnie Vista with Kwikee Revolution steps. They were acting up for a while, continuing to jerk when going in or out. Most of the time, but not all the time. Now they hang limp even though the step motor still runs.
My motor is an ACI 300-1457 and I pulled it off. I was able to turn the gear back and forth a little, and after removing the gear and cover, I saw the three pegs were loose. I replaced them with 1/4" washers and that tightened things up, but the stairs still swung loosely after remounting the motor.
I ordered a rebuilt Cardone motor from my local auto parts store that was supposed to be compatible, but it wasn't really the same, so I didn't take it. The gear was lower and the motor body was a little smaller. I could've swapped out the gear, but was concerned it wouldn't have the same strength as the original.
Does anyone have guidance on repairing? The plastic gear inside the motor did not appear to have much wear other than the pegs being loose. Or is the collective wisdom to buy a new motor in this case? From reading the forums, it seems there are a number of similar but not exactly the same motors that either won't work for the Revolution steps or aren't optimal. My steps don't use a linkage, but instead the motor's gear fits directly against a curved external rack. Elsewhere on the forums, I saw the Lippert 369340 is directly compatible with my motor.
Thanks for the help.
