I chased my intermittent stairs down to the door switch. When I pulled the the wires for the new switch through the door frame I found a place where they had been mashed in the door frame and had been occasionally shorting to ground.

Put in a new switch anyway, protected the wire that were previously shorted and steps have worked flawlessly since.

Has anyone had the steps work after replacing the module just to have the steps continuously extend and retract with door open/close? I can not get my steps to stay extended while camping. I have not completed the troubleshooting steps yet either, so just asking here to save potential time.
