Kwikee Steps

I just replaced my series 25 Kwikee gear, motor and controller in a kit for the series 25.
This is on a 2003 Winnebago 35u workhorse w22 . I must say this is the best kit I have ever installed every bolt and washer was included . Very easy change out. I shopped on Amazon and the kit was $100.00 cheaper than other places. Very Happy

What was your issue with your steps? Three step or two?

Mine didn't work well when I bought my MH about a month ago. After dragging them on my driveway and bending them they really didn't work well . I just unplugged them for the time being and have either been making one big step or using my 2 step ladder while tinkering with it in the driveway. I finally got a new set and put them on this morning. I had everything done and hooked up, with the exception of one nut that was laying just inside the door. I opened the door to get it, only to have the steps extend and whack me in the shins.... Well, they work now.

I Have three steps . The gear plate was bent and the motor worked sometimes and would just stop in the middle of the operation. It's a 2003 so it doesn't owe me anything.

Mine has started not closing completely unless I lift up with my foot while it’s closing. In the past I just lubed it really well but that’s not working now.

if your steps attempt to work 85% guess(mine) the controller should be viable
this can be your under 100 fix vs 100 less than competition
for ex foot assist this will (99%) repair it

Kwikee Steps

The support at Lippert is great they emailed me a exploded view of my series 25 step so I ordered some new nylon guides and shaft bearing while it was apart. They believe the motor is getting week because it will close all the way with a little assistance with my foot. It’s typical symptom. They said I could get the motor at E trailer which is a dealer for them for less money which I did because they are a short drive for me. The issue though is the plug on the new motor does not match the plug on my wiring harness. The motors are all different depending on the series of steps you have. My old motor has a number they are not familiar with but interesting enough while looking I found many threads many others have that same motor # on their old steps. If I can’t come up with a new pigtail I may have to solder the new wires to the new motor socket and fill with silicone.Click image for larger version

Kwikee Steps

Mine will not move if I operate them several times quickly. I believe this to be a thermal cutoff in the controller or the motor. Recently, I disassembled the steps and had them sand blasted and powder coated. They came out great. They were reassembled with new bronze bushings and rubber stops. Right now they look great and operate good, unless they are moved several times within a few minutes, then they still will not operate for 30 seconds and then will operate.

I have considered new Kwikee replacements but am hoping these will continue to work

I have answers to my issue but will not post them here as not to be hijack this post. It’s easy to do so and get the two posts mixed up.

Ok this is the thread and follow up I hope will reach and help more people. The photo above is of my original motor that Lippert has no record of that PN. They think it could have been replaced already? Well after researching I found there are many many of these motors with this part number are out there. This is on the three step Kwikee 25 series step pre 2006. Ok the replacement motor for this series 25 is the LC369506 motor shown below. It can be purchased at E-trailer the photo below is from E-trailers website. It IS the SAME motor that Lippert sells. They told me I could buy it from E-trailer cheaper than from them direct and they were right actually about $35 cheaper. E-trailer is a distributor for Lippert/ Kwikee.
Ok here lies the answer to the problem mentioned in the quoted post above. After searching online Amazon and E-trailer I found this pigtail # 1809940 which Lippert changed to LC369413 Now neither Lippert or E-trailer even knew that this pigtail fits the new motor. Now the way I found out that it fit was I ordered the motor and the pigtail from E-trailer hoping that it would fit. I live about 20mi from their warehouse so at the counter I opened the box and tried the pigtail and "Wahlah" it fit!!
I told E-trailer while there and called Lippert and told them both they should offer this as an accessory or package it with the new motor and they said they didn't know that and they would definitely look into it. Lippert said some of their data prior to them buying Kwikee is limited and they appreciated the info. Below is the new motor and pigtail that matches.Click image for larger version

This would make a good sticky.
