You are absolutly correct.. .To your detractors: The O/P mentioned he put in an entire new step unit, New Motor, ***NEW CONTROLLER**** He did not mention replacing the door switch.

Kwikee used two different door switches, ONe is Normally open, the other Normally closed.. For this discussion it matters not which is the "old" and which is the "new".

They have two different controllers, ONE is very "Squarish" or retangular in apperance

The other is more Triangular (Trapizoid actually) in appearince, Looks like a right triangel

And again it matters not which is which is older.

If the SHAPE of the SHAPE of the controller changed.. THEN the switch needs to be changed as well.

That is what matters.

Only the switch (in the jam) not the magnet (in the door).

My steps got jammed in the out position. 3 truckers telling us about it.
I unjammed them but the motor even removed would not run.
Took the motor apart, found nothing wrong. Put it back in gear box. It worked. But the steps ran in with the door open, open with door closed.
Reversed the 2 wires. I had just put the motors outer casing back on turned around 180 degrees. Reversing polarity.
Found the solution here.
