Ladder placement

My new rig does not have a built-in ladder. Just ordered the 16' telescoping ladder, you know the ones that can pinch fingers if not careful while retracting.

Please provide your opinion on where and where not I can place it to get to the roof. Rear, front, on the side against the body, against a slide-outs end, agains a slide-outs face?

My guess is the only solid location is on the side against the body.

I would come up over the side. But wherever you place the ladder, you will need to pad the area that touches the RV to prevent damaging the finish. You can use an old towel and some tape or some pipe insulation foam.

I have an extendable ladder too.
We used a pool noodle. Cut 2 pieces that fit between the rings, then slit them length wise. After opening the ladder we just slip them over the vertical portion of the ladder where it will run against the coach.
