Leak between hose reel and filter

Got a water leak between the hose reel where it exits the reel goes to several fittings then to cannister filter. See attached pic.

Curious why the seem on the grey plastic fitting isn't straight. Either way that is where the leak is.

Suggestions how to fix? Verified a washer is between the two fittings but the leak is at the seem, not the threads.

I'm tempted to coat the grey plastic with JB Weld, let it cure for a couple days and see how it works. Although if that fails then I'm using vise grips to try and back that out.

That's not a seem. It's a crack and the brown color is rust stain.

Newmar sells that part for about $7, or take it off and go to a big box home improvement store and match it up.

ADAPTER 3/4 MPT X 1/2 FPT

78977 EA ADAPTER 3/4 MPT X 1/2 FPT 2 7.07 14.13

Mine showed signs of cracking but had not leaked yet.

Huh, so the grey plastic is supposed to be one piece.

I see, from left to right, stainless fitting, grey plastic, white plastic fitting to copper elbow with barb fittings to garden hose, another copper elbow with barbs to another hose with thread couplings that lead to the filter.

Seems like a no brainer to rip that mess out and replace with 3 foot Flexzilla Lead-in hose. Or am I I missing something? I do see some wires zip ties to the copper, they wouldn't be temp sensors would they?

I have no idea regarding the wires. I needed to change the hose on my reel and at that time spotted the crack in the fitting. To me it seems like a no brainer to just replace what is there. Since that plastic fitting is screwed on a pipe thread, don't overtighten it and split it.

Finally got to the big blue home improvement store to get the replacement fitting.

Had to buy 2 pieces and cement them together. The worst part was had to pull the hose reel out while putting the fittings in as the new combo was a bit longer and bumping against black tank drain.

Thanks all for the help
