I have looked at some other forums that will remain nameless. The private forums over time, become owned and controlled by the owner/moderator. They become the old boys club. They detest anything that anyone else has to say and their opinions are obviously correct and you are stupid if you question their opinions.
I have found that these type of individuals are hard working and mean well, but over time, their lack of success in life shows in the management style of their forums. It's kind of like the condo associations. The people that run for the BOD are the ones that have never had any real success in life and when they get a little authority, want to flex their new found muscle.
I have read other forums posts where they lambaste this forum for certain female moderators and how these guys know more than anyone else, if we would just listen to their singular wisdom. Again, a sign of personal life's failures include the inability to accept female opinions because they come from a female.
I for one am impressed by this group and all moderators especially the Ladies. But then again, a man who is comfortable with himself tends to prefer strong personalities in their female friends, acquaintances and partners.
This is not a forum, it is a group of people that like talking to and sharing with others about their similar interests. They are always willing to help without condemnation or aloofness for those with less experience.
Thank you for being here for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree...well said, Jim
I only posted once at RVnet, and for some reason the whole thread was deleted. I never went back, but not really for that reason. I participate in the hobbies of metal detecting and geocaching, and over the years have come and gone from forums pertaining to those topics. I've found the small to mid-sized forums to be overall just as informative, and definitely more friendly.
Not knocking the Biggies....just prefer the smaller forums.

Unless you cite which forum you are referring to you should not make this general statement. I find no evidence for your statements on RV.net. I have met the Class A moderator and I can assure you he is not a failure that has gained power by becoming a moderator. I do have some concerns about a conflict of interest between the forum and posts. For example, RV manufacturers advertise on forums and the owners of the forum may have a stake in the RV business. RV.net is owned by the Affinity Group. They get posts about their products that are hard for them to take sometimes. Also, the forums don't want to be liable and certain posts may draw them into that area. Their decisions to lock or delete threads can hinge on this. These are my areas of concern and I don't see a way around them if we have free forums run by parts of the RV industry.

As some others, I thoroughly enjoy both forums but must admit that on the other forum folks frequently drift off-topic on many of the threads.
The Moderators and Administrators of both forums deserve a great deal of credit for their efforts in maintaining meaningful, informative and smooth running forums.
I certainly don' envy them nor would I want the responsibility.
Best regards to all, Jim S

I personaly use every forum I can find. The knowlage I find is invalueable in many ways. There are people who post with hearsay as fact and personal opinions as knowlage. Before retirement I was an auto/truck mechanic for over forty years and I continue to learn from others. You just have to learn how to seperate the ones who know and those who think they know.

I have to agree with speed racer. I read and enjoy every forum. I certainly get my money's worth. Oh, they are free, I forgot.

I do apologize for not being clear. I did say other forums that were to remain nameless and since this tread was about a specific forum, I thought I was making it clear my comments were not about RV.Net but about many forums in general.
I have read many different forums about RVs and various other topics and have witnessed what I expressed in my post. I believe it you see consistent and repeated types of behavior, you're allowed to generalize, that is why they call it generalization.
No offense intended to you or anyone here by my statements.

There are times I make posts that I do believe are correct, only to have someone come back, in a polite way, to correct the statement I have made. And occassionaly a person will respond with a "you're a dummy" type of post, belittling my intellingence....these are rare, though.
Anyway, if mechanically challenged people like myself don't make their posts, then maybe a correct answer won't get posted to help them and others out. That's what I like about forums....there are so many people who've been through the learning curve and are willing to patiently work with those of us who sometimes struggle to figure out the simplest solutions.....this is that kind of forum

I haven't left RV.net but I agree that some of the mods there are a bit over the top with their actions. The mods seem to cause more problems than some of the posters do. A few of the mods post stuff that would get others banned. But, it's good for a laugh sometimes, I just can't take them all that seriously.

iRV2.com was created in direct response by our founder due to the grief that he was experiencing on other RV websites including RV.NET.
iRV2 makes the statement that, "I RV Too!" and I will not be talked down to by a few know it alls.

I still go there and post some as well as other RV forums. Each one is a little different. I think some of you are being way to nice though because the moderation on RV.net just outright sucks, no other way to put it. They seem to be on some power trip all the time.
