True. The one my dad had built in 1975 still stands strong. Leaks a little, had a post jacked up, and I added a large overhead door to replace the sliding ones......but not bad in 42 years.

Since I've never had a garage built before, just curious. If you get an estimate from a company like Morton Buildings, is the bid set in concrete or is it negotiable?
A lot of things are negotiable but this may not be one of them. Just wondering what you guys that had one built did.

They're pretty flexible. You can change things etc. They will probably have a cutoff point of course, where you are committed with final design, that is if materials are ordered etc. Up to then, you can most likely tweak it quite a bit.

I understand that the best size for an rv door would be 14x14ft. But what do you consider a good inside size to walk around unit with the slides out? I am working on a floor plan of a new building. The size 48x60. Just need some ideals.

Mine is 42 x 60 and I can put two 45’ coaches in there, open up all the slides and have plenty of walk around room. 48x60 should be even better.

I guessed what I should have ask is how much room will I need between the support beams? My plans call for 18 feet wide. If backed in I would have an extra 4 foot beyond the doors. With the drivers side having a solid wall 60 ft long. The curb side will be open with support beams. So, a total of 18 ft wide. Is that enough?

Is that wide enough to run the sides out and still walk around? I'm thinking 18 ft wide. Your thoughts?

22' gives me lots of space. I can open the bay doors and still have plenty of room to walk around them. Try opening your widest bay doors on each side and see how wide that is. Could be 18' is just right.

Agreed. 18’ will be fine for walk-around space.
