Levelegs repair

I have a 2006 Fleetwood Bounder with a bad Atwood jack. I think it has a bad clutch. I have it in a shop and they nor I can find a new one. Does anyone out there repair Atwood jacks? It is a 10,000 pound unit with the part # 66543 on it. I understand that the part number for the motor/clutch assy is 80599. That is also LNA from Lippert/Atwood/Dometic. This jack was replaced about 8-10 years ago and may have a newer part number than the original.

Just saw this today in the IRV2 classified section - if you can't find the part.

I do remember reading how some folks have rebuilt the clutch. As I remember, over time, the oilite bearing is driven down the shaft, allowing the tension pin between the two halves of the clutch to displace - thus not allowing a good clutch between the plates.

Folks have replace the bearing with a bronze one that has a shoulder that can prevent it being forced down. However, the shoulder adds height that has to be compensated for by reducing thickness on a positioning washer.

I read the article/forum casually - but I'm pretty sure that's the jist of the topic - keeping searching - If you can't find the parts - I'd suggest a machine shop, not a mechanic.

And, here's the only other information I've gleaned from various forums. Hopefully something can help get you onto the path...

"Ordered from Lippert Components, South Bend 574-537-8900
Kit, Leveleg Gear Replacement and Hardware (66591), Item number 678826
$28.95
included the gear, washer, and the pin for the gear
."

I am reminded of a line from Clint Eastwood: "A man has got to know his limitations". For a variety of reasons repair involving extensive breakdown and replacement of small internal parts is not an option for me anymore. That is why I was looking for either a major subassembly or a facility that would rebuild my unit or sold rebuilt units.
