Leveling Jacks

I have a 1999 American Eagle Dream. I’ve owned it 1 year . It has a 3 jack system. When I bought it the drivers side rear jack would not work. I just use a manual jack there when camping. The hydraulic line that goes to the front jack blew out so I replaced it. The switch to tell you the jacks are still down didn’t work so I purchased a new one. Then I let the 2 jacks that worked down and they wouldn’t let up so I had to bleed the to get them back up. Now nothing works. Thoughts would be greatly appreciated

jacks

Yeah without much info on the brand we are just guessing. Units are 21 years old and likely need some maintenance like rebuilding or even replacing.

Not sure what model jack system is on your Dream but it could be similar to ours on our 2002 American Eagle. We have a 3pt Power Gear system. On ours there are 4 valves that control fluid pressure. There is one valve for each cylinder to extend the cylinder but only 1 return valve for all cylinders. The retract button on the control panel opens the return valve and all 3 cylinders retract at the same time. Each cylinder has an internal spring that retracts the cylinder. You can’t retract just one cylinder since all return lines feed into 1 return valve to the reservoir.

Make sure the return valve is getting power. Check fluid level in tank. A bent cylinder will also not return properly.

Easy to bend the cylinders on the system if your jacks are in soft ground. When you lower coach is pitches forward about 3 inches due to the rear trailing arms. If jacks get suck in soft material puts side pressure on cylinders which can bend them. I have learned to always use good jack pads to allow the jacks to slide forward and backwards with the coach.

Good luck.

Your Jack's are from the factory. They came with the coach. They are made by power gear. Power gear used only 3 Jack's for a time. It allowed the front jack to go down and then the two rear Jack's would make the motorhome pivot on the front jack. This kept the motorhome from getting into a bind and popping out windshields, etc. Most of the time when I had a Fleetwood with this problem, it was a fuse in line next to the reservoir. It will be in a plastic cover close to the solenoids. Check and clean all connections at the reservoir area. If the left jack still does not work it is probably in the board. These boards are about one thousand dollars.I refuse to be robbed, when mine went out on the passenger rear side, I simply ran a 12 volt wire to the right rear solonoid. When I want to lower or retract the RR, I simply hold the switch in while I extend or retard the jack. Very little effort for one thousand dollars in savings.
