Leveling jacks question
Hello all, as we do our research for that " perfect" for Us motorhome, we really like the 2016 winnebago sightseer 33c. But one thing that may be a deal breaker is I have read an awful lot of bad things about their leveling system, getting stuck down or not going up or lights coming on saying they aren't up but are etc. I'm not here to bash Winnebago , but this is a big deal for us and we want to make the right choice . We also have our eye on the newmar baystar 3401 or the canyon star 3610. Or is this just one of those rv things we will have to deal with?
It's too bad really cause we really like the floor plan of the Winnebago 33c, we like that it has a stackable washer/ dryer in a short coach (34 ft)
Thanks to all in advance, Steve

I have a 2015 Itasca 33c (identical to the Sightseer 33c) while I hear that they have changed the slides in the 2016 which should clear the Lippert slide problems I don't believe they changed the levelers. With that said I only had one issue with the levelers that it was showing them not stowed when they weren't. After double checking I drove it anyway and the warning lights went out. I took it too the dealer and they couldn't find a problem they simply pressed two buttons at the same time and reset the controller. I just think it could have been a electronics interference issue and resetting the unit is all you may need to do. Mechanically I had no issues. BTW I love the 33c floor plan with plenty of room. We also have the washer and dryer. It not like your home W/D but once you figure it out along with the optimum load you should be very happy with them.

I have a 2015 Winnebago Vista 27N and it has hydraulic levelers that use the hydralic pump to raise the jacks as well as lower them. I had HWH on my former camper and they used big springs to raise the jacks, which worked fine but also can have issues in cold weather where campers have to "help" them up in some cases. So far the ones that Winnebago used on my RV have worked perfectly.

We have a 2015 Vista 36Y. Have had not problems with the slides. One problem with the levelers(I believe we caused it) with blowing the fuse. Took us longer to find where the fuse was than to fix it. We now carry an extra fuse.
We have been on the road now for 6 weeks plus we brought it home frequently to work on it for 4 months so the slides and jacks have had a work out. No problems.

I had HWH hydraulic on my Itasca (Winnebago). I had to help the jacks up more often than not. Now on my Newmar, have zero problems with jacks.

Don't let that be the deal breaker. Other coaches can use the same systems also.

I agree with 530KTM and don't let it be a deal breaker. I wouldn't worry about the levelers. I only had one issue in 14 months and during that time I had used them probably over a two hundred times. I'm always reminded that it is not like a stationary home that sits in one location it's a home you drive up and down bouncy roads and in different electrical environments that can bring RF interference to electronics. With any electronics you are always going to have a situation where there too much information to process, it happens when you press too many buttons or when the signal from the level collides with the signal from the parking brake or the signal from the command button or from some outside RF source and then micro processor burps. Weighing all the features and good points of the 33c they far out weigh any possible leveler issue you may or may not experience.
