I have the same problem. I called the OEM and was informed that the switch must be replaced.

Most likely that is the only way they sell them. While I haven't replaced a bulb in a switch like you have, if it can be taken apart and reassembled then the light bulb can be replaced.

you can buy the bulbs at radio shack. real easy to install just solder two little wires.
don't let the size of the bulb scare you (about the size of pen head) they put out plenty of light

Here is a good source for switches if needed.

That shouldn't be a big task for a ham
If you pull it out of the panel and post a few closeup photos it would help.

Red face light replacement

I'm a fanatic on making sure everything in My motor home looks
original, I'm sure I could take the switch apart and replace the light
but didn't want to take a chance if there was a short cut to the fix
If I can buy a identical switch i'll do that if its not exact I'll try fixing the one I have
or leave it alone, I thought someone might come up with com thing like, pull out build pop in new one and bam, done. Anyhow I always leave that switch on and only turn it off to retract steps when it rains to keep step rugs dry.

Thanks for all the input
safe traveling

I just replace the bulb in my water pump switch yesterday. I have a bin full of miscellaneous spare bulbs I've salvaged from defective electronic gadgets.

I used a very small screwdriver and pried the switch apart, then found a tiny 12V bulb that fit the hole and soldered it in. Took all of ~15 minutes.

Take the switch out of the box and look for a manufacturer and model number. Should be easy to find.

I procrastinated for 3 years, but finally followed my advice above. The switch was available at Napa Auto Parts.

Even if you can't find or don't want to do the work of replacing the light in the switch, it's easy to find external panel mount lights that will come on when the switch is on. Just drill a hole, mount the light, and wire it from the output of the switch to ground. done!

Sometimes the great PROBLEM arises when you try to re-assemble the switch. I tried several boat switches and realized REPLACE. Time effective & cost less to my customers.

I just replaced the light in my Atwood water heater switch. There are three wires on the back that will come off easily. Remove the front cover using a small straight screw driver. Push the switch out from the back; it is a wedge fit. A new rocker switch with light included cost me $6.00 from an RV Dealer. I then pressed the new switch into the plastic housing, reattached the wires, snapped on the front cover and secured it to my panel................works like a charm.
