Light switch for Holding Tank

I have a 1994 Class A Damon Intruder motorhome. I have a red light switch next to the sink that says Holding Tank Heater. The light no longer comes on when I turn the switch on. Is this heater for my Potable water tank or my gray or black holding tanks?

The light tells you when your electric water heater is heating water with electricity. If it no longer illuminates you have a little troubleshooting to do.

First it heating water in electric only mode? Turn off the propane and see if it gives you hot water. If it does...then you have a bulb burned out. Easy fix. Repplace the rocker switch.

If not? Next step is to figure out WHY your water heater is not working in Electric mode.

Red light for holding tank

This switch is not for the water heater, that is a separate switch. The one in my post is for the Holding Tank Heater and says holding tank heater on the switch cover.

I am trying to find out which holding tank this heater is for, potable water, gray water or black water.

I'm thinking they're for the waste holding tanks. Some older RVs will have heat pads on the waste tanks to aid in dumping when in frigid temperatures. Waste holding tanks on these older RVs are usually not protected by basement heat or otherwise insulated and the contents can start to freeze when temperatures are way below freezing and thus can make them almost impossible to dump or dump completely if needed.

I'm guessing this is what it's for as I had a Class C at one time many years ago that had heating pads installed by the manufacturer for that purpose and was wired to a switch inside as you describe.
