Lincoln baseplate.

We have a 2016 MKX that we will be towing four flat. I ordered a base plate for the car which Amazon canceled because the Vendor was out of them I guess. It was suggested I go back and order one from another seller which I did. Problem was there was no indication of the year on the sellers website and I failed to check the part number since when I went back to the sight I assumed the vendors were selling the same one that was canceled... Well I got one for a 2015 and I am going to have to send it back.

UNLESS a miracle happens and they are interchangeable.

I know it is a long shot, but does anyone know if this is doable? Can I install the one made for a 2015 on my 2016 Lincoln MKX? Maybe the difference is subtle and I can adapt. Hoping for a Hail Mary here.

Thanks to all who offer advice.

I'd contact the baseplate manufacturer and see if the '15 and '16 baseplates are the same.

Thank you, so painfully obvious that I never considered in. Did ask the question of the seller but Mfg is the way to go.

You could answer your question in about 30 seconds by going to the website of the baseplate manufacturer and looking up your MKX. It will show what year models that baseplate fits. Heck, if you had given the name of the baseplate, you would have had your questioned answered 5 times already.

For Blue Ox, #BX2673 fits 2016-18, #BX2625 fits 2011-15.
