Looking for a class a diesel pusher or possibly gas
I am close to retirement and want to travel when I do. I have been looking into Beaver coaches from 2000. I know they are older but I really like how thought out they are. I was wondering if they were hard to get parts for like brakes. The motor I like is the C 12 425 hp cat motor. I was wondering if anybody owned some of them and could give me some information on them. Thanks Ken

Hi, welcome and congrats on approaching retirement. Beaver was bought by Safari (I have a Safari) then Safari by Monaco. Beaver was a pretty small company but not saying that means anything, my view is these rigs are motors, a chassis, a generator and slides. You might want to post in the Monaco forum to attract Beavers lol.

I think you are wise to look at that vintage... a well cared one will have had updates and proper care, no DEF fewer computers, like was said it's just components and everything is out there with a simple google search, check the forums for that engine combo...

If you like older Beavers you might want to also check out Country Coach and Foretravel coaches from the same era.

I like American eagles as well. I have seen some country coaches that I like. The four travel is new to me and I will look into them

I think you will find diesel pushers to be among the more expensive RV options to maintain. Call a few shops to check the price of normal service on a diesel chassis. Then look at the cost to maintain a diesel pick up.
That is my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

A 2000 Beaver would be in the Safari-ownership range and the chassis would be a Safari Magnum with Cat engine. Both Safari and Magnum are long gone, but the mechanical components of the chassis were not unique - axles, tranny, steering, engine were all standard truck industry components. Whether replacements are still available depends on truck repair market factors. Allison still supports their transmissions and Cat there on-road engines, but individual parts can be scarce. Lot's of used ones in salvage yards, though. Axles, differentials, air compressors, etc can be harder to find.
The Beavers of that era are gorgeous coaches and mostly well-designed.

I own a 2002 Beaver Patriot Thunder C12, 455 CAT and absolutely love it. Smooth ride, solid bones and I have never had a problem finding a part. CAT is still very much in business across the US and practically all will work on your CAT motor is ever needed. The C12 is regarded by many as the best motor CAT ever built.

Thanks everyone for all the great information. I am going to look at a 1999 safari Serengeti. It is nice on the outside a little rough on the inside but I don’t mind that because I can fix all that pretty easily. I will have it mechanically looked over before I buy.
